Correct the machine

By the term “post-editing” or “post-revision” we mean the linguistic verification, carried out by a person, of texts produced by a machine translation engine.

Post-editing can be on various levels:

light
medium
heavy

depending on the extent to which the reviewer has to intervene in the text.

According to the guidelines provided by TAUS in the article Guidelines for Post-Revision of Machine Translations, translated by us, the type of post-editing depends on two factors:

the quality of the automatically translated “raw” text
the final quality to strive for in relation to the purpose of the text

The amount of corrections will be higher or lower depending on the destination of the text. A text to be published must be brought up to the same level as a human translation, while for a text that only has to convey a given meaning a light post-editing will suffice.
