iFear: Qabiria’s First iPhone App

Scared woman

On July 12, 2009 we received permission from Apple to sell iFear - all about phobias, Qabiria’s first application for the Apple iPhone and iPod touch. The program is was available in the App Store.

iFear is a dictionary and trivia game about fears and phobias, for iPhone and iPod touch. At the time of writing, it is the first app of its kind in the App Store.

iFear dictionary is much more than just a list of fears. In collaboration with the therapist’s office Hippocampo we have collected and sorted over 400 of them.

The dictionary allows you to browse and search fears in 3 ways:

  • alphabetically
  • depending on what you’re afraid of
  • through tags

The app also allows you to create a virtually infinite number of quizzes, with optional music and sound effects, to test your knowledge on the subject. For more information visit www.ifear.it, or the app tab on iTunes.

Why such an app from us?

First of all, we were looking for an original subject, which was not easy given that the App Store already contains over 10,000 apps. From our network of contacts emerged a proposal from Hippocampo that seemed particularly appropriate, also because it was rapidly developable.

All in all, it was a pilot project that allowed us to gain experience. We will definitely put it to use for other apps. And if you have any suggestions... we’re all ears!

If you want to internationalize your app, contact us: we will help you translate its contents.

Technical translator, project manager, entrepreneur. Languages graduate with an MA in Design and Multimedia Production. He founded Qabiria in 2008.
