On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, I participated, as a representative of Qabiria, in the third day of the Program Empresas Saludables (Healthy Businesses Program), organized by the City of Badalona and the Centro Internacional de Negocios de Badalona (BCIN) and aimed at businesses in Badalona, Sant Adrià de Besòs and Montgat.
The “Healthy Companies” program provides a series of free seminars and workshops aimed at business leaders so that they can implement actions that take into account the physical, emotional and mental well-being of their staff.
The goal of the program is for companies to care about the well-being of the people they work with and achieve a “healthy company” status. In a healthy environment, employees are more motivated, absenteeism is reduced, and talent is retained. The third training session, titled “The Path to Equality: where do I start?" was given by Berta Canals, director of Fundació Sorli, who spoke about the importance of gender equality in the workplace and how to apply it across the board in all companies.
Although in Spain Organic Law 3/2007 formally endorses gender equality and stipulates that companies with more than 50 employees are obliged to register an Equality Plan, there is still a long way to go to achieve real equality in the workplace.
According to 2022 data presented at the conference, only 1 in 5 companies have an up-to-date Equality Plan, demonstrating the need for continued work in this regard.
During her speech, Berta Canals stressed that integrating equality in companies is not an easy task and requires “knowledge, training and information.”
The collaboration between Badalona City Council, BCIN and the city councils of Sant Adrià de Besòs and Montgat to promote the Healthy Business Program demonstrates the commitment of these institutions to promoting healthy and equitable work environments in the area.
As such, Qabiria joins this initiative and is committed to continuing to work for gender equality and the promotion of healthy workplaces.
