We are pleased to announce the signing of a true champion to our team: Carlota Alvarado Martín-Calero, from Valladolid, who found Barcelona to be the perfect place to take her first steps in her career as a professional translator and project manager.
“The main reason I am in Barcelona is for my studies. While looking for information on different translation and interpreting faculties, I felt particularly drawn to the one at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, so I came to study here. I graduated in July 2015 and am currently attending the Master's in Tradumática at the UAB. Honestly, I couldn't wait to start translating professionally. In addition to translation, here at Qabiria I am also tackling other aspects of the industry, such as project management, communication with clients and translators, etc. It is very interesting to be able to experience first-hand how a company in the language sector is organized.”
Thanks to the foundation of knowledge she acquired during her years of study, we believe that Carlota fully meets the requirements we look for in our interns: basic skills in computer-assisted translation tools; the ability to liaise between clients and translators; the ability to write and understand texts in more than one language and, above all, the motivation to learn and work hard.
Carlota has participated for many years in national and international inline hockey and ice hockey competitions, even wearing the jersey of the Spanish national team and achieving excellent results. This sporting experience is especially noticeable in her attitude towards teamwork and her level of responsibility and commitment. Furthermore, thanks to the opportunities sports have given her, she has been able to travel and solidify her calling for languages.
Carlota, Qabiria wishes you the best in making the most of this collaboration! Welcome, and have a great time working with us!
